my dear stop complaining
my patience is waning
I don’t give a damn anymore

for 6 years I waited
angry and frustrated
I don’t give a damn anymore

I’ve been locked up, been locked down
I’ve been held up in a showdown
I waited for you all the while

my gal I’ve been drifting
from Raleigh to Reno
my blood summons me to the road

my look’s never good
but I did what I could
I don’t give a damn anymore

I’ve been held up in bus stops
I’ve been lonesome in land lock
and I thought of you all the while

your rope’s getting tighter
my standards are higher
I don’t give a damn anymore

oh stiff boots and rawhide
I’m done with my old life
I don’t give a damn anymore

I’ve been locked up been locked down
I’ve been held up in a showdown
I waited for you all the while

I’ve been stood up been broke down
I’ve been better back in this town
I’ll saddle up soon and be gone

I’ll saddle up soon and be gone

Habitat uses Iran’s political unrest to boost sales via Twitter

I came across this article on The BBC’s website today somehow and it really bothered me.  Habitat added hash tags like ‘iran’, ‘tehran’, and ‘election’ to their tweets in order to get their tweets to come up in searches done by people looking for information on the political situation in Iran.  They’ve made a public apology, but who really thought that was a good way to attract customers?  Habitat has shown unethical marketing and has caused more damage to their name than can be rectified by a simple apology.

This article now shows up on Associated Press, BBC, and Mashable among others.

happy holidays!

my christmas started a couple of nights ago.  i received a package from beijing that had ‘the adventures of milo and otis’ dvd enclosed.  i have this slight obsession with animals, so  it’s kind of a running joke with all of my friends and family members.  not the most traditional christmas present, but i absolutely love it.

we had our company lunch yesterday and we did a gift exchange.  i walked away with a gift card to borders..now i just have to figure out which book to go buy.  also, my lovely boss gave me a christmas bonus, which i cannot wait to go spend.  that was  a pretty good way to start off the holiday festivities.

got a half (or a bit more than half) day of work today, then making the drive up to the parents house.  thinking about staying up (and not drinking too much) so that i can attend midnight mass at st. peter’s.  then tomorrow’s christmas at the parents then off to tahoe!  i’m pretty excited, besides the fact that i don’t own warm clothes.  i’ll be getting my new digital camera for christmas so i’ll be posting lots of pictures in my future posts :)

hope everyone has happy holidays.

one month and two days

I guess it’s been a while, but to be honest..not much has changed.  Still working away at The LWP Group.  It has gotten so busy over the past month or so.  Our new project, Community at The Martin Bldg. + Flats has opened and it’s amazing.  I absolutely love living there.

I started volunteering a lot more, which is great.  Volunteer San Diego is such an awesome organization.  You can do anything from beach cleanups, to playing with the animals at the pound, to working at the food bank ,to tutoring, to having coffee with international students working on their conversational skills.

So, the beginning of this week was insanely busy.  Between running back and forth between our different properties, working until 630 both Monday and Tuesday..I haven’t had time for myself.  So tonight I am going to La Jolla to see Seven Pounds and then tomorrow I am going to this MTV event downtown.  It’s about time I relaxed and had some fun.

Hopefully I’ll be updating more regularly…

Love,

Lady

Week/end Recap

This week has been pretty awesome.  I started full time at my new job and for the most part, I love it.  Monday was rough since my work computer got stolen.  Tuesday was wonderful..I got to meet up wtih Heather for the first time in months for some dinner and drinks downtown.  Later that night I rented City of Men and watched it with a friend.  Wednesday..I am drawing a blank.  Thursday was the mojopages event at the W Hotel.  Monique and I met up with some people from digital-telepathy, and all I wanted was a vodka soda.  A SKYY soda.  But all they had was the SKYY 90.  I drank two of those and felt pretty good.  Then we went to Hamilton’s for some food and beer and a few people from le pearl were there.

The real fun began on Friday.  Street Scene.  Erin, Jenna and I got off work a little bit early and headed to Tivoli’s, thinking it would be cheap.  It wasn’t.  Then we got to Street Scene just in time to catch the tail end of MGMT..after that it’s all kind of a blur.  We saw diplo, justice, the foals, cat power and vampire weekend.  Erin and I went home and crashed.  Then yesterday we did it all over.  Got there pretty late so we only saw tegan and sara, does it offend you, yeah?  and bits / pieces of other sets.  does it offend you, yeah? was absolutely amazing.  I wish their set was longer.  And I also wish that that man wearing the gold jacket wasn’t so damn sweaty, and all up on me.  Sick.  I’ll have pictures by the end of the week hopefully!!!

Lost

…without my phone.  A month or so ago I dropped my phone into a burning candle.  It has wax all in the keypad and in the microphone.  I put up with it for as a long as I could, but on Friday, I gave in.  I went to the Verizon store saying my phone was “lost” and expected to have to pay my $50 deductible, and walk away with a brand new Curve.  But no, the lady kindly said, “Take this claim and file it.  I deactivated your current phone.  You’ll have a phone by Wednesday.”  Man.  The past two days have been awful!  Apparently I am addicted to my phone.  RIP Blackberry.

Two Disappointments

I think I was on Mashable, or ReadWriteWeb?  Anyways, I came across Zenbe and Mint.  Zenbe is an aggregator and I was so excited to see that it had gmail, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook.  I signed up immediately.  Strike one, my Yahoo account is not supported because I don’t have the premium version of the Yahoo email.  Strike two, it is very slow and when you scroll up and down in the Facebook status update section, the pictures seem static.  It takes them forever to catch up to the updates.  So when I’m looking and I see a picture of Jose Amador, I expect his status update to be next to it.  But no, it’s Chris Decatur’s.  Annoying.

Now onto Mint.  Not too much to complain about here, because I didn’t get very far on the website.  My bank isn’t supported on this website!!!!!  So sad.

This has been a weird day.  Normally I feel very tech savvy, and up to date with web 2.0..but, Monique and I couldn’t figure out how to analyze GoogleAdWords for a campaign at dt for the life of us, lastfm.com confused me and now I’m disappointed in Zenbe and Mint.  Someone give me a turnaround here.
